In 1970, the highly experienced Mario Bresciani decided to set up his own business and established the Mario Bresciani snc sock factory in Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantova, ltaly).
The corporate name was changed in 1980 into Calzificio M Bresciani srl, while keeping the same premises and brand names, and a new kind of distribution and collaboration began with major international firms.

After years of experience, the company is now established on the international market under its own brand name: Bresciani. The company distributes its production through sales organizations in Europe, USA, Middle and Far East, Africa and South America and contributes to the fame of “Made in Italy “with high quality products.
The company’s attention to detail began with the selection of the finest natural yarns in cotton, wool, cashmere, hemp, silk and linen. Rigorous quality control, highly skilled workmanship (all socks are hand linked) and computer technology ensure that their products meet the highest standards. This is the basis that has provided long term cooperation with well known stylists and explains its presence in leading menswear stores all over the world.

Cashmere and Silk – from Bresciani

Bresciani’s 70% cashmere 30% silk item it is its best luxury style. It is very light weight, and warm (because of the cashmere), comfortable (because it is knitted on their 240 needle machines and because the silk retains the body temperature) and elegant (the shades and colours ontainable in cashmere are not comparable with any other yarn).
The yarn is already a blend and this gives more strenght to the thread. It is reinforced with silk on the heel and on the toe, so it needs no syntetic material (excluding the top where it has the elastic, of course).

Socks That Stay Up – Bresciani

It is not just a matter of having elastic at the top. To have a good fitting sock it is important to have good knitting. In earlier times the sock was held to the leg using garters. After discovering  new materials, rubber was used to obtain the same result. Now spandex is the most used material.
When speaking of over the calf socks it is always better to have under the elastic a 1×1 ribbed knit cuff. This helps to hold the sock to the leg without giving too much pressure.
